We live in such an exhausting culture of self-optimization, where we treat our lives like a perpetual checklist—achieving one goal only to immediately invent another one, treating ourselves like a broken machine that constantly needs tuning. It is a radical and deeply healing realization to remember that you are not a project to be fixed, perfected, or endlessly managed. You are allowed to simply exist, breathe, and be worthy of love and acceptance exactly as you are right now, in all your messy, unfinished humanity

But we should not treat ourselves as projects but like real living breathing human beings. We should be kind to ourselves because nobody else is going to show kindness or compassion.
