A small decision

Anonymous1 hour agoWrite Freely374 words

For the past few weeks, I had been telling myself that I would start tomorrow.

Tomorrow I would wake up early. Tomorrow I would study properly. Tomorrow I wouldstop wasting time on my phone. Tomorrow I would finally work on the things I kept postponing.

But tomorrow kept becoming another tomorrow. One morning, I woke up and realized I was tired of making promises to myself.

Nothing dramatic happened. I didn't suddenly become motivated. I just got outof bed, opened the curtains, made a cup of tea, and sat at my desk.

My table was messy. There were books I hadn't opened in days, a notebook withhalf-finished plans, and a pen I had been looking for the previous night.

I cleaned the table first.

Then I wrote one thing on a blank page:

“Just start.”didn't make a huge timetable.

I didn't write ten goals.

I didn't promise myself that I would change my entire life in one day.

I simply decided to study for thirty minutes Those thirty minutes became an hour.

After that, I took a short break and went for a walk.

It wasn't a perfect day. I still checked my phone. I still got distracted. I still didn'tfinish everything I had planned.

But something felt different.

For once, I wasn't waiting to become a completely different person before taking action.I was doing something with the person I already was.

That evening, I looked at the small list I had made in the morning.

I had completed only a few things.A few months ago, I would have called that a failure.

That day, I called it progress.

I think we sometimes make change harder than it needs to be.We wait for the perfect Monday, the perfect month, the perfect mood, or the perfect opportunity.

But life doesn't usually give us perfect conditions.Sometimes you just have to begin with a messy room, a tired mind, and very little motivation.

You don't need to know exactly where you'll end up.You just need to take the next step.

Maybe tomorrow will be difficult again.

Maybe I'll lose motivation.

Maybe I'll have another unproductive day.Maybe I'll have another unproductive day.

That's okay.

I can always begin again.

And this time, I don't want to wait for tomorrow.
