Almost a doll

Me and my friends had gone to the cafeteria to have our afternoon coffee. We were looking for a table where we can sit comfortably. Finally we found a table which would be suitable for our big group. We sat there and started having our coffee.

While having the coffee I glanced around the cafeteria. I saw a girl walk into the cafeteria. She was taller than most girls in the cafeteria and was slim. She was wearing interesting type of clothes. High rise trousers and sleeveless shirt tucked in. She loked really elegant in that attire. I liked how she had styled her outfits that made her look even taller and slimmer. She saw that I was looking at her and admiring her style. She smiled at me before moving to the coffee counter.

I liked her style so I asked my friend Veena to look at her. Veena to agreed that the girl had amazing style and her clothes look really feminine and beautiful. I said, "her clothes fit her so beautifully. She can wear anything she wants and she would still look stunning. Mostly because she is slim".

Veena agreed. A few moments later Veena stopped having her coffee and she stared at me, "why did you say that? You are slim too. Such stylish would look good on you too but you do not want to take any risks".

I was shocked how Veena had compared me with this elegant goddess. I could not agree with Veena on the part that I too could wear the outfits that the other girl had worn. I agree that I do have a great sense of style but that does not mean I could wear anything I felt like unlike this gorgeous woman.

"Veena my body structure is very different. I definitely cannot wear what this girl was wearing". I told Veena.

Veena made a face that indicated to me that she this agreed with me.

That evening I got home and I was still thinking about our conversation. I really thought about what Veena said that I am not ready to risk wearing something unconventional. That was definitely true. I had always been sticking with the tried and tested formulas of dressing. Sure I would definitely experiment with the colours but never with the structure of outfits with which I would experiment. I looked in the mirror and I saw that I did have some problem areas. Or maybe I could say that some parts of my body I was not comfortable with flounting them. This is why I had never been comfortable wearing the crop tops because I was concerned with my tummy. And then I listed a number of outfits that I would not wear because I considered that they would highlight my problem areas.

Then I had a look at my closet. After looking at my clothes I did feel that I hardly had anything in my closet that would be considered trendy. But what I had with me was classic. I had always been loving that timeless style and my closet was filled with that style. Those simple styles made me happy. Those styles made me feel the most confident.

This is when I realised that I do not need to change the style that the other beautiful girl was wearing. I can continue to wear my classic styles and that is what was going to make me look unique. I do not need to experiment with my style to look like the "It girl". I can still wear my style and be considered an elegant women.

Seeing someone else pull off a bold outfit made the author realize she was afraid to risk her own style, so she decided to

I love this realization! ✨ Style isn’t about copying what looks good on someone else; it’s about finding what makes you feel confident and truly yourself. Classic, timeless fashion can be just as elegant and beautiful. 🤍

Body structure plays a major role. She was model like and hence she was able to wear most styles. While I am slim but curvey so on my body different styles would look better. That was the realization
