An unexpected friendship

Today I discovered that the colleague everyone gossip about is actually the kindest person in our office. When the office printer jammed minutes before my presentation everyone laughed at my panic but she stayed behind and help me fix everything.

Later she shared her lunch with me admitting she often ate alone because people misunderstood her quietness. I felt ashamed remebering how easily I beleived their stories. Yet sitting beside her laughing over our terrible cooking skills, I felt genuinely happy. Walking home I realised how many wonderful people we might miss simply because we listen to the wrong voices.
