apparently I don’t mean much to my friends

I recently experienced the passing of a dear friend and coworker, and I’m heartbroken over it. I have posted about it on social media, shared her obituary, and even changed my profile picture to a picture of us. It’s been almost 5 days and not a single one of my friends or acquaintances have reached out to ask me if I’m ok. I’m the kind of person who has attended funerals for the extended family of people I’m friends with because I know how hard it is to lose someone and I want to make sure that my friends know I’m there for them - and it really sucks to feel like you don’t have anybody in your corner who will even send you a text to make sure you’re ok

Sometimes the hardest part of grief is realizing how quiet the world can feel around you. You deserve the same care and presence that you so freely give to others. I hope someone reaches out soon, but until then, please remember that your grief is valid and you don’t have to carry it alone. 🤍

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. Losing someone is already painful, and having to experience that silence from people you expected to check on you can make it feel even heavier. But their lack of reaching out doesn’t automatically mean you didn’t matter to them. Sometimes people genuinely don’t know what to say when someone is grieving. Still, I hope you have at least one person around you who makes you feel heard and supported. 🤍
