Beautiful as you are

As a little girl I looked up at the fashion girlies that took effort in their hair and makeup. I wanted to be like them growing up. Watching TV about girls my age at the time, made me kinda envy them, they wore makeup and looked so pretty. I always wanted to learn but my mom never let me near makeup. At school I envied the girls that did their makeup and hair. It always felt to me that I wasn't allowed to wear makeup but when my mom caught me trying to wear makeup she told, I was too little.
I didn't understand then, what that meant and she specified, "you are beautiful as you are. Makeup is for people who want to hide themselves. It's for older women like myself to hide the imperfections."
When I went to school the next day I saw that one of my classmates wasn't wearing makeup and I saw that her face was covered with pimples and acne. I asked her, "Why didn't you do your makeup up today?" She said she was running late and that her skin was breaking. For the rest of the week she didn't wear heavy makeup just in her eyes. When all the girls in my classroom took a break from wearing makeup, they all said that makeup was the reason their skin was damaged. I understood what my mom meant. But the thing was that all those girls were envious about me. They all would give me complaints about how natural my skin was and how they regretted wearing makeup at an early age. But I told them they were beautiful too with or without makeup because they were able to express their artistic skills. And although there was damage done they were still young and could focus on treating their skin better if they wanted.
I was glad that my mom was kinda strict, even now as women I still avoid makeup. Not because of it will cause to my skin to do but because I love my skin as it is. And I feel like I don't need makeup yet like I'm still too young. Because I love myself and the most important thing to love yourself as you are because you are beautiful.
