I really like the idea that being “average” can actually mean being free from the pressure of constantly proving yourself. The line about losing ourselves in the race to be perfect especially stands out—sometimes satisfaction matters much more than being impressive to everyone else. 🌱

This is such a mature thought and I'm glad you shared it here. We spend half our life thinking we need to be on top, first in class, best at everything, and then one day we look around and realize everyone is just trying to live peacefully like us.
What you said about stillness being more precious is so true. When you are not in compition, you actually start feeling your own life. Otherwise we are always looking at others.
And that last line - what makes us happy is more important than making others happy, and in the race of being perfect we forget to be happy - that line should be framed. Needed to read this today.

I really like the way this looks at being average from a completely different perspective. We spend so much time comparing ourselves with people who seem ahead of us that we forget how peaceful life can feel when we're not constantly trying to compete. The part about people who were once at the top of the class still living ordinary lives later on really stood out to me because it shows how temporary those comparisons actually are. There’s something comforting about realising that you don't always have to be exceptional to have a meaningful life. Sometimes being content with who you are can bring a kind of peace that achievement alone can't
