Connecting the dots

I will be going all over the place, so please be kind.

I am from a traditional Hindu family. Every evening after sunset, we light oil lamps. We light up incense stick and take it around our home including the front door. Then we say our prayers in front of the god. For a last few days, I had noticed something strange. Each evening, after lighting the oil lamps, a sound would come from outside the front door. It felt like the sound heard after pressing the switch button halfway. It would come almost every day. I noticed the pattern. One evening I closed my eyes and prayed to the god, "I have been hearing this sound every day. I know it is an energy. Tell me in a dream if this is a good or bad energy. If it is a good energy I will wholeheartedly welcome it to my home". This was a couple of days ago.

This morning I had a strange dream:

It was the golden hour of the evening. Me, my mother and my nephew were sitting in the bedroom. My nephew appeared as if he was 2-3 years old (he is now 10 years old). My mother tells us that it is the time for lighting up the oil lamps and say prayers. While my mother is about to go to the kitchen, my nephew said to me that my sister (his mother) had entered the kitchen. It was impossible because my sister was at her home, not ours.

I stopped my mother from going to the kitchen. When I am in the living room, I see a shadow quickly entering the kitchen. I find it strange. I start chanting the Dutta Stotram loudly that I chant every day. While chanting it, I entered the kitchen to see who is trying to invade our home and scare us. I feel a sudden shift in energy as if a bad entity is present. I keep chanting the stotram and the energy shifts back to the positive energy.

I keep chanting the stotram louder. While doing so, my nephew tells me that someone is outside the door. I keep chanting and I open the door. When I opened the door, I see an unknown woman standing outside. She smiles at me and I notice her teeth are rotten. Something tells me that she is not real - she may not be a good energy. I am still chanting the stotram. While chanting the stotram, I hit that woman with the napkin on her face. The woman screams and disappears in thin air.

My dream ended and I woke up in sweat. My heart was racing. My head felt numb.

Now I am thinking about it. What if this was a premonition (I do get premonitions which turn out to be true)? Was my prayer answered by the gods? I had asked them to let me know in my dream if a bad energy is trying to enter my home. What if the gods have told me what waits outside?

Could this be a message or am I just overthinking. I am still trying to connect the dots.
