Different

I was working on my project. My phone buzzed. The text message was from my friend Kirti. She had sent a link of a YouTube video with me. Looking at the title I knew this was neither urgent nor important. Kirti and I had been friends for a very long time so I was in a position to send her a direct message, "working on a project. I will have a look at your research later". I knew Kirti will get my sarcasm.

Later in the evening when I was done with my work I decided to watch the video that I had received earlier in the afternoon. It was the video of a celebrity at an award function. She looked very different.

"Why does she look so different here?" I replied to Kirti.

"This is exactly what I wanted to tell you. She looks completely different. I cannot believe she is the child artist we had been watching in our growth years", Kirti was quick to revert.

Before I could type anything Kirti had already sent me another text, "people are saying about aging, surgery, beauty treatments, fillers, or autoimmune disease could be the reason for her different appearance. But I do not think that way. None of these even together can change the appearance this much".

" Exactly my thoughts. Face shape is different. Her hair line is different. What is more prominent are her eyes. Her eyes look as if they do not belong to her. There are no emotions in her eyes. They look completely hollow. As if there is no life in them," I replied. It was painful for me to look at one of my favourite childhood celebrities in such a bad shape. She looked beyond recognition to me. I felt as if she was not the same person.

"God Hollywood is a really strange place. Anything can happen there. Have you come across theories about her?" Kirti was on a completely different topic yet it aligned perfectly with this topic.

"A couple of them. One theory I read is that her autoimmune disease is responsible for the change in appearance. Being a Healthcare professional, in my professional opinion this is not possible," I mentioned.

" What else have you heard?" Kirti asked me.

"Another theory is that after the break up with her pop singer boyfriend she faced a lot of psychiatric conditions. The medications she took during that time changed the appearance. Again I do not believe this theory. Psychiatric medications do not change the face the way her face had changed," I mentioned to Kirti while debunking various theories.

"I have something else to tell you and I am pretty sure you could start thinking about this theory," I knew Kirti definitely had some hot gossip that she wanted to share with me.

"Go on," I replied while I was waiting for the next theory to come into the light. I was a pretty sure that that theory Kirti was going to tell me was going to be bizzare.

"I have heard that she died several years ago. Because of her popularity the industry decided to appoint many people to impersonate her. The one we see on the screens and the one we here on the records are not her but many people. One person runs her social media. The one who sings is a different person. The one who appears for the awards is a completely different person", Kirti replied to me.

"Just like the guys from The beetles, Avril levigne, and many other artists. Girl, do you seriously believe these theories?" I joked and asked Kirti.

"Girl do you have any other explanation? You said yourself that she looks different. How could someone completely change? You have been debunking so many theories. Think about this one and maybe you will go down the rabbit hole that is called as Hollywood cover up," Kirti is reply made me think. What if it is true? What if there are people impersonating her?

I am not a celebrity worshipper, but the ways things are going on in the entertainment industry are definitely making me surprise every day. I will not be surprised if this theory turns out to be true. For that we would need to wait till the time the truth comes out.
