Every friend group has rules

Every friend group has rules.Nobody writes them down. Nobody officially announces them. Yet somehow, everyone knows them.

Rule number one: If one person says, “Guys, I have something to tell you,” everyone stops whatever they are doing.

It could be something completely useless, but suddenly the entire group becomes a courtroom.Rule number two: There is always one person who is permanently late.

Nobody even gets angry anymore. The meeting time simply gets adjusted according to their arrival time.“Let’s meet at 5.”“What time will she come?”

“Probably 5:45.”“Okay, see you at 5:45.”Rule number three: If someone sends “Guys…” followed by nothing else, prepare for chaos.

That three-dot message has more power than an emergency siren.Rule number four: Everyone has a designated personality.

There is the therapist.The comedian.The one who disappears for three days and returns with “Sorry, was busy.”

The one who knows everybody’s business.And, of course, the one who somehow becomes the mother of the group despite being the least responsible person.

Rule number five: You can insult your friends, but nobody else is allowed to.Your friend can say, “You’re so annoying.”But if someone outside the group says the same thing?

Suddenly it’s:“Excuse me, who are you?”Rule number six: One person’s problem automatically becomes everyone’s problem.

Someone has a crush?Group investigation.Someone fought with their parents?Emergency meeting.Someone received a suspicious text?

Screenshots are immediately requested.And perhaps the most important rule of all:Nobody leaves the group chat.Even after saying, “I’m done with you people,” everyone returns approximately twelve minutes later because somebody sent a funny reel.Maybe that’s what makes friendship so strange.

There are no contracts, no official positions and no written rules.Yet somehow, over time, a random collection of people becomes a tiny little world with its own language, jokes, arguments, traditions and completely ridiculous laws.And honestly?I wouldn’t want it any other way.
