Sometimes being left out changes the way you see people. You start wondering whether you’re actually difficult to be around or whether you simply stopped forcing yourself into spaces where you weren’t genuinely welcomed. And the strange part is, once you become quiet because of how people treated you, the same people may call you “reserved” or “unfriendly” without ever thinking about what made you pull away. I feel like not every distance is arrogance—sometimes it’s just self-protection. At the same time, being left out repeatedly can make you question yourself even when you’ve done nothing wrong. Maybe the real challenge is learning when to give people another chance and when to accept that some connections just aren’t meant for us
