Going Back to School as an Alumni 🎓❤️

Have you ever visited a place after years and suddenly felt like you had travelled back in time? That is exactly what happens when you return to your school as an alumnus.
Recently, I imagined attending my school function after several years of graduating. The thought itself brought back so many memories that I realised how special our school days truly were.
Walking through those familiar gates again would feel different. Once, I entered them carrying a heavy schoolbag, worrying about homework, assignments, surprise tests, and whether I had completed my classwork. But this time, I would enter as a guest, with no uniform, no attendance register, and absolutely no fear of being questioned about my incomplete homework!
The classrooms would still be there. The playground would probably look smaller than I remembered. The corridors where my friendsÂ
and I used to walk together, laughing over the smallest things, would bring back memories I had completely forgotten.
I would definitely look for my favourite classroom. I wonder whether the benches where we sat still exist. Perhaps another student is sitting in the same place, whispering to their friend while pretending to listen to the teacher. Maybe someone is secretly passing notes, just as we once did.
The school function would be another emotional experience. Watching students perform on stage, listening to speeches, and seeing teachers manage everything would remind me of the excitement we once felt during annual days. Back then, participating in a performance felt like the biggest achievement, and making a small mistake on stage seemed like the end of the world. Now, those same moments would make me smile.
Meeting my former teachers would probably be the most emotional part. They might remember my name, or they might need a little help recognising me after all these years. I would
want to thank them for their patience, guidance, and encouragement. Sometimes, we only understand the importance of a teacher’s words when we face the real world outside school.
And, of course, there would be conversations with old friends. We would laugh about silly arguments, classroom punishments, lunch breaks, and the promises we made about staying in touch forever. We might realise that life has taken us in different directions, but the memories we created together still connect us.
What makes returning to school so special is that we are not simply visiting a building. We are revisiting a version of ourselves that existed there.
School was a place where we worried about marks, counted the minutes until lunch, and waited eagerly for holidays. We wanted to growÂ
up quickly, believing adulthood would solve every problem. Little did we know that one day, we would miss those ordinary mornings and wish we could experience them just once more.
If I ever attend my school function as an alumnus, I would take plenty of photographs, meet my teachers, and walk through every familiar corridor.
Because sometimes, moving forward also means looking back with gratitude. We may graduate from school, but a part of us will always belong there. ❤️
Returning to your old school years later, you'd most want to
Your vote is final.
OMG I knoww exactly how that feels...I have went to my school for the annual day...I can do nothing other than just remembering and smiled again...one thing I realised is that thoses days and those kind of people can never be met again and that we need to cherish every single memory.
