I’ll grow definately

Anonymous1 hour agoWrite Freely1576 words

I don’t know exactly who I am going to become. And honestly, that used to scare me.I wanted answers.

I wanted to know where I would be five years from now, what I would be doing, who would still be beside me, what kind of person I would become, and whether the things I was struggling with today would eventually make sense.I wanted some kind of guarantee that everything would work out.

But life doesn’t really give guarantees.It gives days.Some beautiful.Some ordinary.Some painfully confusing.

And somehow, we are expected to build a life out of them.Maybe that is what growing up actually is.Not suddenly knowing everything.

Not becoming perfectly disciplined, perfectly confident, perfectly successful or perfectly healed.Maybe growing up is simply learning to say:“I don’t know yet.

But I’ll grow.Definitely.”I will grow from the things that broke my heart. Not necessarily by becoming colder.

That is something I am beginning to understand.Pain has a strange way of convincing us that the only way to survive is to become harder.

To stop caring. To expect less.To trust nobody. To never become attached again. But I don’t want pain to turn me into someone I don’t recognise.

I want it to make me wiser without making me cruel.I want to learn without losing my softness.I want to understand people without constantly making excuses for them.

I want to know when to stay and when to leave.I want to learn that loving someone does not mean abandoning myself.

And if I have to lose something to learn that lesson, then perhaps I will eventually understand why it happened.

I will grow from my mistakes too. There are things I wish I had done differently.Words I wish I hadn’t said.

Words I wish I had said sooner.Decisions I made when I was emotional.Decisions I avoided because I was afraid.

Times when I ignored my own instincts.Times when I expected people to understand things I never communicated.Times when I gave too much.I could spend years punishing myself for all of it.But what would that accomplishA mistake is supposed to teach you something. It isn’t supposed to become your permanent identity.I am allowed to look at an older version of myself and say,

“You didn’t know better then. You know more now.Let’s do better.”That is growth too.Not hating who you were.

Understanding her.I think I will grow from failure more than success.Success has a way of making us believe we have everything figured out.

Failure reminds us that we don’t.And perhaps that is useful. There will be exams I don’t clear.

Opportunities I don’t get.Plans that fall apart.People who choose someone else.

Days when I work incredibly hard and still don’t get the result I wanted. There will be moments when I question whether I am capable of becoming the person I imagine in my head. And I know myself well enough to know that some of those moments will hurt.

But I also know something else.I won’t remain the same person after them.Every disappointment will leave me with something.

More patience.More experience.A better understanding of myself.A clearer idea of what I want.

A clearer idea of what I don’t want.Maybe that is why failure is not always the opposite of growth.Sometimes it is the soil where growth begins.I will grow in ways that nobody notices. That might be the most beautiful part. Not every transformation needs an announcement.

Nobody needs to know that I finally stopped checking for someone’s message.Nobody needs to know that I started choosing peace over arguments.

Nobody needs to know that I finally opened that book after weeks of procrastinating.Nobody needs to know that I started taking my dreams seriously.

Nobody needs to know that I cried one night and woke up the next morning determined to continue. Some growth happens quietly.

A person changes long before anyone else notices.Maybe one day someone will say,“You’ve changed.”

And I’ll smile.Because they’ll only be seeing the result. They won’t know about all the tiny decisions that came before it.

The mornings I didn’t feel motivated. The nights I doubted myself. The moments I wanted to give up.The times I started again.

Again. And again. And again. That is how people become different.

Not overnight. But repeatedly.I will grow out of certain things.Certain habits.

Certain fears.Certain friendships.Certain versions of myself.Certain ideas about what my life is supposed to look like. And I hope I don’t feel guilty about that.Because sometimes we confuse familiarity with destiny.Just because something has been part of our life for a long time doesn’t mean it has to remain there forever. We are allowed to outgrow places. We are allowed to outgrow people.

We are allowed to outgrow dreams. We are even allowed to outgrow versions of ourselves that we once loved.

There is no betrayal in becoming different. There is only life happening. And I hope I grow without constantly rushing myself.

Because I have spent enough time believing that I am behind.Behind someone else.Behind some imaginary timeline.

Behind the person I thought I would already be.But life is not a race with one finish line.Someone will figure things out at eighteen.

Someone else at twenty-five.Someone else at forty.Someone will find love early.Someone will find it later.

Someone will know their career immediately.Someone will change careers five times.Someone will leave home.Someone will stay.

Someone will build a quiet life.Someone will build an extraordinary one. There isn’t one correct way to become a person.

So I don’t want to spend my entire life panicking because my journey doesn’t resemble someone else’s.

I want to grow at my own pace.Even if that pace sometimes feels embarrassingly slow.Even if I have to start from the beginning.

Even if I change my mind.Even if I don’t know what comes next.I will still grow.Definitely.

I will grow in the way I speak to myself.I hope one day my inner voice becomes kinder. Not blindly

positive. Not fake.Just kind.I want to be able to look at myself on difficult days without immediately deciding that I am a failure.

I want to understand that being tired doesn’t mean I am lazy.Being confused doesn’t mean I am incapable.Needing help doesn’t mean I am weak.

Taking a break doesn’t mean I have given up.I want to become someone who can hold herself through difficult seasons instead of constantly fighting herself for having them.

And maybe someday, when I look back at this version of me, I won’t cringe at all the things she didn’t know.I will be grateful for her.

Because she kept going without knowing how the story would end.She kept dreaming without evidence. She kept hoping even when hope felt foolish.

She kept trying. And that matters. There is something incredibly brave about continuing when you don’t have certainty.

Anyone can move forward when the road is obvious. But moving forward when you cannot see very far ahead? That takes faith. Not necessarily religious faith.

Sometimes it is simply faith in yourself. The quiet belief that says:“I don’t know how I’m going to get there. But I’ll figure something out.”

Maybe that’s enough.Maybe I don’t need to know exactly who I will become.Maybe I just need to remain willing to become.

Willing to learn.Willing to apologise.Willing to change.Willing to begin again.Willing to let go.

Willing to try.Willing to fail.Willing to dream again after disappointment.Because the future version of me is not waiting somewhere fully formed.

She is being created by what I do today.By every small choice.Every boundary.Every lesson.Every mistake.

Every attempt.Every time I choose courage over comfort.Every time I choose to continue. And maybe she won’t look exactly like the person I imagined.

Maybe she will be softer.Or stronger.Or quieter.Or more ambitious.Maybe she will live somewhere I never expected.

Maybe she will have a completely different dream.Maybe she will laugh at how seriously I worried about things that eventually became insignificant.I hope she does.

I hope she looks back at me with tenderness.I hope she thinks,“You were trying. You were learning. You were becoming me.”

And perhaps that is all I really need to know.I don’t know what tomorrow holds.I don’t know which plans will survive.I don’t know which people will stay.I don’t know which dreams will come true.

I don’t know how many times I will have to begin again. But I know I won’t remain exactly who I am today.Life will teach me.People will teach me.Mistakes will teach me.

Love will teach me.Loss will teach me.Failure will teach me.Time will teach me.And I will keep becoming.

Slowly.Messily.Imperfectly.Beautifully.I will grow.

Not because I have everything figured out.But because I don’t.And perhaps that is the whole point. There is still so much of me left to discover.

So many places I haven’t seen.So many things I haven’t tried.So many people I haven’t met.So many mistakes I haven’t made.So many lessons I haven’t learned.

So many versions of myself I haven’t become yet.And suddenly, not knowing doesn’t feel quite so frightening. It feels exciting.

Because if I don’t know who I am going to become, then the story is still open. There are still pages left. And I am still holding the pen.So, yes.

I don’t know exactly where life is taking me.I don’t know whether I’ll get everything I want.I don’t know how many times I’ll fall before I learn how to stand differently. But I know this much:

I will learn.I will adapt.I will heal.I will try again.I will become.

And someday, when I finally meet the person I was meant to grow into, I hope she looks back at this uncertain version of me and smiles.

Because she will know something I am only beginning to understand now—I didn’t have to become her all at once.I only had to keep moving toward her.

And I will.Definitely.
