It Was Just A Perfume, But Still…

Okay, this might sound really stupid, but my favourite perfume literally broke and I'm still not over it. 😭
It wasn't even some super expensive perfume or anything. It was just one bottle that I had been using for quite a while. But somehow, it had become my perfume.
You know when you have a few perfumes but there's always that one you automatically pick?
You don't even think about it.
You're getting ready, you look at the bottles, and your hand just goes towards that one.
That was mine.
I used to wear it on random days, when going out, while getting ready, sometimes even when I wasn't going anywhere. I just really liked the smell, and after using it for so long, Istarted associating it with myself.
Then one day, I was just moving things around and somehow the bottle slipped.
I literally watched it fall in slow motion. 😭
And then… crash.
At first I was just standing there thinking, “No way. Please tell me that didn't just happen.”
But it did. The bottle was broken and obviously there wasn't much I could do about it.
The funny thing is, I could buy another one. It's not like the perfume disappeared from the world. I could probably find the exact same one again. But somehow, getting a new bottle doesn't feel exactly the same.
Maybe because that particular bottle had been sitting around for so long. It had become part of my routine without me even noticing And I think that's what happens with a lot of small things We don't realise we're attached to them until they're suddenly gone.
A favourite mug. A particular bag. An old notebook. A hoodie you keep wearing even though you have newer ones. They're not necessarily valuable, but they become familiar.
And sometimes familiarity is enough to make something feel special.
Also, perfumes are kind of weird like that.
A smell can become connected to a particular phase of your life without you intentionally doing it. Years later, you can smell something similar somewhere and suddenly remember a place, a day, or even just the general feeling of that time.
So now I'm wondering—
Do you have a perfume that you consider “your” perfume? Like, if someone smelled it somewhere, you'd immediately think, “Yep, that's the one.” 😭
And if your favourite perfume suddenly broke like mine did, would you immediately buy another bottle?
Or would you just accept the tragedy and move on? 💀
Because honestly, I'm still deciding whether I need a replacement…
or whether I'm just being dramatic over a bottle of perfume. 😭
When a favourite, familiar item breaks, do you
Your vote is final.
Not dramatic at all 😭 Sometimes it’s not the perfume itself it’s all the little memories and routines attached to it. That “this smells like me” feeling is so real. I’d definitely replace it though some tragedies deserve a sequel. 😂🌸
