Love for journaling

Anonymous1 hour agoWrite Freely451 words

I have been journaling since when I was 15 and still continue to do so. For me, journaling feels like a place where I can write any event or thought that I feel like to write and just write it in my own cluttered way.

But I don't do journaling daily or have a fixed schedule for it, I do it whenever I feel like it. Sometimes I write pages after pages, sometimes just one paragraph, sometimes I write about different events and sometimes I just write about whatever is in my mind. Also, I don't write too much. Sometimes I write in 2 lines, sometimes pages after pages, sometimes just a paragraph. But whatever I write, I like my journals.

I have physical journals but still sometimes use digital mediums. I have used many kinds of journals, and now I am using an A5 dotted journal with a beautiful aesthetic cover. Previously I used to do journaling in hardcover ones and I feel like they are not for me, I need more flexible bending ones (I think is a personal thing, I but I prefer softcover ones hehe). Also, plain light cover ones are nice, too, but I feel like if the cover has some aesthetic features to it, it feels more nicer, and encouraging for me to just hold it.

Journaling helps me understand my thoughts better, helps me realize some of my faults that I may have missed, helps me get clarity for my plans, and just helps me understand my thought patterns.

I feel like taking care of mental peace is one of the most important things, and journaling makes me see things that I miss, helps me fix where I need to in different areas.

Journaling is a way that helps me calm down. I am stressed or overthinking. Like when I am stresses I juts pick up my journal and just start scratching it, writes a line (whatever even I don't know), and sometimes just connect the dots to create a design (my own unofficially good design, that I prefer not to have anyone look hehe). It helps me to start to write about my thoughts in short and once I write it, it helps me understand the causes of the overthinking in a clear way and then the realization comes from within me that - stressing of something that irreverent, is it even worth it!

All my old journals, I have put them in a box. I am still browsing through different journals, I now understand that softcover ones work best for me, and I know I still have a lot of things to learn. I'm still discovering the peaceful art of quiet journaling.

When you need to calm down, do you
