My Low Blood Pressure

This shouldn't be a laughing matter but whenever I think about the time I fainted over a silly cause, I'm flooded with embarrassment and laughter.
I'm not really a stranger to fainting. It sounds concerning and it honestly is, but I assure you i'm perfectly healthy. After a checkup I found that I have really low blood pressure, but im working on it.
The first time was at a hospital. It was really crowded and we had to wait just to speak to the doctor. So the standing and the crowd made me feel faint. Next thing I remember is my bum plonking on the floor and the nurses rushing me to check my vitals. At least we got to skip the line after and go speak to the doctor.
It's genetic too. My father, aunt, and grandmother all have a history of fainting. My grandmothers siblings too. Which is funny because some of them are diagnosed with hypertension. It's not really worrisome for us. We're all healthy and active people. I guess it's just in the blood (literally).
My funniest experience so far happened this summer. It was exam season, and we were heading back to class after our lunch break. Summers here are scorching and we had to walk in the hot sun.
On the way, a window in another building was half open. It was at ground level, so while passing by we were able to feel this fresh cold breeze blowing out of it. As we had been in the sun for a while, this was like heaven.
So naturally me and my friends all crowded around it to get this fresh air-conditioned breeze. We all took turn standing right at the opening to get a blast right to our face and body.
More people started coming. Eventually the noise drew the attention of the people inside and they reached out to shut the window. But me being desperate and overheated tried to keep the window open by holding onto it from outside. Now the guy inside had the handle and much more strength, so he ended up slamming the window on my hand.
The pain took some time to process but everyone started asking if i was fine. So I nodded and smiled while feeling myself getting more light headed by the second. I knew I wouldnt last. I mumbled out "I'm dizzy" And the next thing I know, again, is my bum plonking on the ground and my friends pouring water on my face.
It actually got very serious because I just wouldnt stop fainting. We had to call the ambulance to take me to the clinic where they fed me ORS and gave me an ice block for my hand.
Nothing broke, nothing much happened really apart from the shock and embarrassment and dehydration (I wasn't drinking enough water). The nurse scolded me for it, but now I know what causes my low bp.
It was a funny experience for me. Because who faints after getting their hand stuck in a window? I felt like a damsel with all my worried friends around me.
I'm completely fine though 👍
When you feel lightheaded and know you're about to faint, do you
Your vote is final.
This sounds like such an unexpectedly scary experience, especially when it happened in a crowded hospital. I’m glad you got it checked and found out what was causing it, and I hope you’re taking good care of yourself now. I also like how honestly you shared the experience and could look back at an embarrassing moment with a little humour. Wishing you good health and hoping you don’t have to go through another fainting episode again. 🤍
