7 AM: I was at the station waiting for the train. I was on my way to college. It was still little dark but I was not bothered.

7:30 AM: I met my friends and we started walking towards our college. The crisp air of December felt nice on my face. I felt like it was going to be the best day.

8:15 AM: The lecture of organic chemistry was going on. I was taking notes. I felt a stinging sensation on my left wrist. I removed my wrist watch to check. I saw a bright red bump. It was itchy. I decided not to scratch because it worsens that way.

9:30 AM: The red bump was still there. It became more itchy. I was controlling my urge to scratch. It was impossible to continue to wear the wrist watch, so I put it in the bag.

10:30 AM: I was in the practical session. By this time I got another red bump on the left elbow. I was suspecting mosquitoes in the college, though noone seemed to be bothered by them. Only I was the one affected.

11:15 AM: A classmate approached to ask what needed to be done for the practical. While I was explaining, he said, "you look pale. Are you okay?" He asked with real concern. I assured him that I was fine, but frankly even I was feeling that something was not right.

12:30 PM: We went to the cafeteria for lunch. I felt that my left arm and back were on fire. I was getting the hot stinging sensation over my left hand and partially on the back. The red bumps were growing. I was sure that these were not insect stings. I was getting an allergic reaction.

1 PM: I returned to the lab, little bit of experiment was pending for the action. I wanted to finish it and rush home. I had no medications with me. There were no medications for allergic reaction at the college too. The only way to get medications was by visiting the doctor.

3 PM: I was sitting in the train on my way to home. By now my entire body was on fire. The rash had spread everywhere. There was a bump near my eyes making it close halfway. I was scared by now.

3:30 PM: On my way home I was checking if any dispensary was open, so that I could see a doctor and get medications. But unfortunately, all dispensaries remained closed.

3:45 PM: I reached home, I barely made it. I fainted at the doorstep. It was all attributed to the reaction.

5 PM: I went to the nearest hospital after gaining consciousness. The doctor saw me and confirmed my suspicion. It was an allergic reaction which was about to go into anaphylaxis. The doctor gave me an infusion followed by oral medications.

6:30 PM: I returned home, drawsy from the treatment. I crashed into the bed.

9:30 PM: I woke up and felt a lot better. The body is no longer stinging. The hives had gone down. I thanked the god for saving me from a medical complication.

This was genuinely frightening to read. I’m glad you reached the hospital in time and recovered. Sometimes we dismiss the first signs of something being wrong, hoping they’ll settle on their own, but this is a reminder of how important it is to listen to our bodies and take sudden allergic reactions seriously. I’m especially glad your classmate noticed you weren’t looking well. Wishing you good health and hoping you never have to experience something like this again. ❤️
