Sometimes We Need to Be Heard
There are days when we say " I'm fine" even when we are not .
Sometimes we don't say what we really feel because we are afraid that people might misunderstands us sometimes we don't want to become a burden , and sometimes we simply don't know how to put our feelings into words . So we smile, continue our routine, reply toh messages, and behave as if everything is normal.
But silence does not always means that everything is okay.
A person who seems cheerful may be struggling quietly. Someone who suddenly becomes distant may simply be tired of pretending to be strong . We often see peoples behaviour, but we don't see the emotions behind it.
This is why being heard can be so powerful.
When someone listens without interrupting , judging or immediately trying to fix everything , it can create a feeling of safety . Sometimes we don't need solutions. We just need someone to sit beside us and let us speak honestly.
I think listening is one of the simplest form of kindness . Saying take your time "I,m here" , or " You don't have to explain everything" can mean more than we realize.
We should also learn to listen to ourselves . It is okay to admit that we are tired . It is okay to take a break . It is okay to ask someone to support when life feels overwhelming.
Being vulnerable doesn't make us weak . It means that we are human.
We may never know what someone is carrying silently , so let's be a little gentler with one another. Behind every smile , there may be a strong we haven't heard yet .
And sometimes the most comforting thing in the world is knowing that someone is willing to listen.
Have you ever felt better just because someone is listening to you without judging?
This is so real. We all say "I'm fine" just to avoid being a burden. You explained it so beautifully - we see behaviour but not the emotions behind it. That last line about listening without judging is so powerful. Needed this today. ❤️
I really liked the distinction between being around people and actually feeling heard by them. Sometimes we don't need advice, solutions or someone trying to immediately fix whatever we're going through. We just need a person who can sit with us and let us say what we're feeling without making us feel dramatic or like a burden. The part about saying “I'm fine” because we don't know how to put our feelings into words felt especially real. Silence doesn't always mean that someone has nothing to say; sometimes it means there is too much to say and no idea where to begin. I think that's why genuine listening can be such a meaningful form of kindness. You don't always have to have the perfect words for someone. Sometimes simply making them feel safe enough to speak is already enough.
