Sweetness

Sometimes a sugar craving makes me feel like im going crazy. And it's not like a chocolate or cake can solve it. My sugar cravings can be so particular.
Many times I crave juice. Like a cold cold packaged fruit juice. It's either Minute Maid or Real juice. And if I don't get it I feel so restless.
But sometimes I eat a piece of cake and it's enough. If a friend is eating something sweet, I just take a bite and that leaves me not only energised but also satisfied.
Sometimes spicy tastes sweet. Like peri peri fries or fried chicken. I can taste the spice but it's also sweet and perfect for my craving. I'm not very keen on spice, but if it's the type that doesn't make me sweat and gulp water, it's good enough for me.
Whenever we go to hotels or restaurants and they give small sugar sachets with tea or coffee, I empty half into my cup and eat the rest. I just dump the whole thing into my mouth and my parents look at me like i'm crazy.
My favourite is sugar cubes. They sit so perfectly on my tongue and it's so satisfying watching them bubble down in my hot drink.
I don't like extra sweet tea or coffee. It just takes away the strong taste of the drink. I like when my coffee is strong enough that the bitterness hits, but also sweet enough that it enhances the strong taste.
Another strong sweet is dark chocolate. I prefer that over milk chocolate. But 100% dark chocolate makes me gag. I like when it's in the 60-80% range. That's the best kind for me.
My mother doesn't have a sweet tooth. At all. She can't stand sweet things. Her favourite sweet is kaju barfi, and that's the only thing she woukd willingly eat without making a funny face. There are times when she has her cravings too. I open the fridge one day and see a cake slice sitting there.
Now that I'm on my own with my own money, it's a bit difficult to control spending on food. Everything looks so enticing. I can't ask my parents to buy things for me anymore, so I end up spending so much money on food every week. And I want to control it but. Cravings!
There's something sweet about sweet. It's more than just a craving at times. It brings people together too, in a way. Like those sweets ad where a family comes together at a festival to share.
Its sweet.
