That One Night at 2 AM
That one night at 2 AM when I saw him with another girl and suddenly started feeling insecure about myself is actually insane.
It was literally just a picture. Nothing more. But somehow, my brain decided to turn that one picture into a whole list of questions I didn’t even want to ask myself.
I started comparing myself to her without even realizing it. The way she looked, the way she dressed, how comfortable she seemed, how naturally they looked together.
And suddenly I was wondering, Was she prettier than me? Was she more interesting? Was I not enough?
The funny thing is, I knew I was overthinking.
I knew one picture couldn’t possibly tell me how someone felt or what was actually going on. But at 2 AM, logic doesn’t really stand a chance against insecurity.
I kept looking at it even though I knew it was only making me feel worse. Every time I looked again, I somehow found another reason to compare myself.
And then I started questioning things that had nothing to do with her.
I questioned my looks. My personality. The way I talk. The things I do. Basically everything I had been perfectly okay with before that moment.
I think that’s what bothered me the most.
How quickly I forgot everything I liked
about myself just because I saw someone else standing where I used to be.
Looking back now, I realize she was never the problem. Neither was that picture.
It was the way I started measuring my worth against someone else’s presence.
Maybe someone else being beautiful doesn’t make me any less beautiful.
Maybe someone else being chosen doesn’t mean I was lacking something.
I wish I had understood that at 2 AM.
Because honestly, I didn’t need to be better than her.
I just needed to stop believing that I wasn’t enough.
Such a real reminder that insecurity can make one moment feel bigger than it really is. ❤️
