The Beautiful Chaos of Having a Sibling

Having a sibling is probably one of the strangest relationships in the world. They are the person you can fight with over the smallest things, complain about for hours, and still defend immediately if someone else says something about them.Growing up with a sibling means privacy is basically a luxury.
You hide your favourite chocolate? Somehow they find it.You buy something new? They notice it before you even get to your room.
You are peacefully sitting on your bed? Suddenly they need the exact spot you’re sitting in.And somehow, parents always seem to have a magical sixth sense for finding out who started the fight.
“Who did this?”Silence. Then both of you point at each other. It is almost a professional partnership. There were arguments over the TV remote, food, clothes, chargers, bathroom time, and absolutely nothing. Sometimes we fought so seriously that we announced we were never going to speak to each other again.
Ten minutes later:“Do you want Maggi?”“Okay.”That’s it. War is over. The funniest thing is that siblings can embarrass you like nobody else. They know your weird childhood habits, your embarrassing stories, the stupid things you said when you were five, and probably enough information to destroy your reputation completely.
And they will happily remind you of all of it.But they also become your first partners in crime. The person you secretly laugh with when everyone else is serious.
The person you exchange a look with across the room because you both know exactly what the other is thinking. The person who can understand a family situation without you explaining the entire story.
The fights become less frequent. The house gets quieter. One of you gets busy with studies, another with work, friends, relationships, or simply life. You don’t spend every waking moment together anymore. And sometimes you suddenly realise how much you miss those ridiculous arguments you once couldn’t stand.
Because you never realise you’re living through childhood memories while they’re happening. One day, the person who used to steal your snacks might be living in another city.
The room that was always messy because you shared it might suddenly feel too quiet. And those silly conversations that once seemed completely ordinary might become the things you remember most.
Having a sibling isn’t always about being best friends.Sometimes you annoy each other.Sometimes you don’t understand each other.Sometimes you need distance. But underneath all of that is something incredibly comforting—the knowledge that there is someone who has known you for years, seen your embarrassing phases, watched you grow, and remembers versions of you that nobody else does.
A sibling is basically a permanent witness to your life.Your unpaid therapist.Your occasional enemy.Your emergency comedian.Your childhood roommate.
And, whether you admit it or not, one of your safest people.Maybe that’s the real beauty of having a sibling. You don’t have to be close every single day.
You just have to know that somewhere in this huge world, there is someone who remembers the little kid you used to be.And somehow, that makes growing up feel a little less lonely.
When you remember your childhood sibling fights, do you
