The happiness we think everyone else have

Anonymous23 hours agoWrite Freely469 words

There is something strange about the way we look at other people’s lives.Everyone seems unhappy when they talk about themselves.

“I’m stressed.”“Nothing is going right.”“I don’t feel fulfilled.”“I wish my life were different.”

And yet, when we look at them from the outside, they somehow seem so much happier than us.They have the friends we wish we had. They go out more often. They post pictures from cafés,

trips, birthdays and late-night plans. They seem confident, surrounded, loved and completely comfortable with their lives.

Meanwhile, we sit there wondering, “Why does everyone have a better life than me?”The funny part is that someone else might be looking at our life and thinking exactly the same thing.

Maybe the person we think is always happy goes home and spends hours overthinking something nobody knows about.

Maybe the friend who always posts pictures with ten people feels lonely when everyone leaves.Maybe the person who seems extremely

confident compares themselves with others every single day.Maybe the couple whose pictures make us think, “I want a relationship like theirs,” has conversations and problems they never post.We often compare our reality with someone else’s presentation.

And that is an unfair competition. We know every awkward moment of our own lives. We know our insecurities, disappointments, family arguments, failed plans, embarrassing memories and the things we wish we could change.

But when we look at someone else, we usually see only what they choose to show.It is like comparing the entire behind-the-scenes of our movie with someone else’s trailer.

Of course their life looks better.Their trailer has good lighting.I remember once looking at someone’s pictures and thinking, “Their life is literally perfect.”

They were always travelling, dressing beautifully, meeting friends and celebrating something.Later, I discovered that they were going through a difficult period that they had never mentioned online. It genuinely changed the way I looked at people.

Not everyone who smiles is secretly miserable, of course. Some people really are happy. But happiness is not a permanent condition either.

A person can be grateful and still have bad days. They can love their friends and still feel lonely sometimes.

They can enjoy their life and still wish certain things were different.Being happy doesn’t mean having a life without problems.

Maybe that’s what we forget. We think everyone else has figured life out while we are the only ones struggling to keep everything together.

But perhaps we’re all just better at hiding different parts of ourselves. The person we envy might envy something about us too.

The quiet person might wish they had our friendships. The person with exciting plans might wish they had our peace.

The confident person might admire something about us that we don’t even notice. We rarely know what someone carries behind their smile.

So maybe we should stop asking, “Why is everyone happier than me?”And start asking

When you see someone else's seemingly perfect life, you
