The last year of being a teen

Anonymous1 hour agoLooking Back497 words

When did growing up happen so quickly?

Last year was my last teenage year and honestly i don't think i realised it properly while it was happening

19 sounded like such a normal age when i was younger. I used to think 19 was still young obviously but somehow it always felt like a veryy far away age like something i had so much time before reaching.

And then suddenly i was there

I still remember being excited about turning 13 and officially entering my teenage years. I thought being a teenager would feel so different. I thought by 16 or 17 i would love everything figured out somehow 😭

Career? Sorted

Future? Sorted

Life? Obviously sorted

Welll.... none of that happened

Did anyone else reach the end of their teenage years and think, wait, that's it? I was expecting some kind of big realisation to happen

But nothing really changed overnight

I still laugh at the most random things. I still get excited abt small plans. I still have days where i have absolutely no idea what im doing with my life. The only difference is that now people actually expect me to know

"What are you going to do next?"

"What's your plan?"

"What career are you choosing?"

And sometimes im just thinking bhayy mujhe khud nahi pata😮‍💨

funny how a few years back everything was childish and now we are talking abt life?

I think that's the weirdest part about growing up. Nobody really tells you that you can be getting older while still feeling exactly like yourself

There are also so many little things from my teenage years that i know ill probably miss later. Random late night conversations , laughing over something that wasn't even funny , making plans that never happened, staying up way too late, getting excited over the smallest things and thinking certain moments would last forever

Waqt ka pata hi nahi chala kab childhood khatam hua aur kab bade hogaye

Maybe we spend too much time waiting to become the person we think we're supposed to be instead of actually enjoying who we are right now

I used to think turning 20 would suddenly make me feel like an adult but now im starting to think adulthood is probably just everyone quietly figuring things out while pretending they know what they're doing

Maybe it's okay if the plan changes

Maybe it's okay if you don't know exactly where you're going

Maybe growing up isnt about having all the answers

Maybe its just about learning to be okay with not having them yet

And honestly, im curious abt everyone else now hahahaha

If you could go back and live one teenage year again , which year would you choose?

Would you go back to your happiest year, or would you choose the year that changed you the most?

And tell me honestly

When you stopped being a teenager, did you actually feel different......or was it literally just another birthday?

When you stopped being a teenager, did you feel

Adulting was never about birthday for me. I do remember turning 18 and thinking it was a serious age but the actual adulthood came with experience. I realised that relatives are not going to be there for you. Maturity was realising that both mom’s side and dad’s sode are equally t0xic in their own ways and its the man for himself in this world!
