The playground has shrunk
I visited my old primary school today to collect a certificate. The playground looked ridiculously small.bi remembered running across it with my frieds, convinced that the far wall was miles away. Now, I could cross the entire space in less than a minute. I laughed at myself, then felt unexpectedly melancholy. The swings were newer, the paint had changed, andvyounger children were shouting where we once played. Life had continued without asking whether we were ready to leave. I stood by the gate for a moment before leaving. I suppose growing up means accepting that places can remain while your place in them changes.

Sometimes, the places we outgrow remain frozen in our memories, holding versions of us that we can never quite return to. It’s strange how a playground that once felt endless can suddenly seem so small. Yet, the laughter, friendships, and little moments we left there will always make it feel enormous in our hearts. Growing up really is a bittersweet journey. ❤️
its funny how perspective can make such a big difference. as kids, everything is much bigger but now we see the same things and it's small. my school got it's playground changed too. when I went 2 years ago the slides and swings were so small compared to what I remember
