The pressure to always be available

Anonymous1 hour agoWrite Freely109 words

Today I noticed how often I interrupt my own peace just to check my phone. Even while studying eating, or resting. I feel the need to answer immediately. Somewhere along the way, being reachable became an expectation. I miss the feeling of finishing one moment without worrying about the next notification.

I found people online describing the same exhaustion from constantly feeling available and a made my experience feel less strange. Tonight, I switched my phone to silent and left it away for an hour. Nothing important collapsed . The world continued normally, and surprisingly, so did I. Maybe protecting my attention is also a way of protecting myself.

This is such a relatable reminder that being available all the time doesn’t mean we have to be accessible every second. Sometimes, peace begins with simply putting the phone down and letting the world wait. ❤️
