The Seaon That Feels Like Home

I don’t know what it is about this time of the year but I swear I become slightly happier version of myself.
Maybe it’s the weather, that breezy air that makes you want to keep your windows open, the way the evening feels cooler, and how you can finally step outside without feeling like the sun has personal problem with you .Theres something about the air these days that makes even an ordinary evening feels special . I could be doing absolutely nothing , just sitting near the window and still feel like having a good day.
And then there’s Navratri!
I don’t think I can properly what this time of the year does to my mood. The decorations , the lights ,the festive clothes, music playing somewhere in the neighbourhood, people getting ready to go out, the little pandals and the general excitement everywhere. Everything feels little more alive and even if I have hundreds things to worry about, there’s a part of me that gets genuinely excited seeing all of this around me.
And can we talk about yellow lights for a second?
I don’t know why but the yellow lights makes me feel so incredibly at home. It doesn’t even have to be my own house, it could be a little shop with the warm lights, a decorated streets or someone’s window that I happen to notice while walking past. Something about the warm glow makes me feel so comfortable in a way that I can’t explain. It reminds me of evenings spend at home, people talking in different rooms, the smell of food coming from the kitchen and the feeling that there’s no where else that you need to be.
I think that’s what I love most about this season. It makes ordinary things feel little more magical without actually changing anything .
The same street looks prettier . The same evening walks feels different , even coming back home after being outside feels nicer when there’s a cold breeze and neighbourhood is glowing with lights.
Maybe I am romanticising the weather a little too much, but I genuinely don’t care , I just want to take it all in.
Life gets too repetitive some times, you wake up , do your work , worry about the future, scroll through your phone, sleep and then do it all over again. Days pass and befor you know it another month is gone . But then season arrives and makes you notice things again. Suddenly you are looking forward to evening walks , taking the longer route home or standing outside for extra five minutes because the weather feels too good to waste .
And I love that feeling .
And if home is a feeling rather than a place , then maybe this is what home feels like to me, cool air on my face, warm lights in the distance and the quiet excitement of knowing that somewhere , some one is getting ready to celebrate.
Honestly I think my heart is just a little happier during this season.
This season makes ordinary things feel more magical, like coming home. When life feels repetitive, do you
