the thing we never say
There are some things in life that we never really talk about.
Not because they don't matter, but because we don't know how to explain them A few months ago, I started noticing something about myself. I was becoming quieter. Not in a dramatic way. I still talked to people, replied to messages, laughedstupid jokes and went on with my normal routine. But somewhere inside, I felt different.
I had started keeping things to myself. If something hurt me, I would say, “It's okay.”
If I was tired, I would say, “I'm fine.”
If someone asked me what was wrong, I would usually change the topic. At first, I thought it was just a phase. Maybe everyone feels like this sometimes. But slowly, I realized that I had become very good at hiding things. One evening, I was sitting alone with my phone in my hand. I was scrolling through old pictures and random messages. I came across a conversation with someone I used to talk to almost every day.We don't talk anymore.
There wasn't one big fight or one particular day when everything ended. Things just changed slowly. Replies became shorter. Conversations became less frequent. Andeventually, we became two people who knew a lot about each other but didn't know what to say anymore.
I wanted to message that person that night.
I even typed, “I miss our conversations.”Then I deleted it.
Not because I didn't mean it. I just didn't want to be the only person trying to bring something back that had already changed.
That night, I realized something.Growing up isn't always about becoming stronger. Sometimes it's simply learning when to stop forcing things.
You learn that some friendships will end.
Some people will leave without giving youthe closure you wanted.
Some plans won't work out.
And sometimes, even after doing everything you could, things still won't turn out the way you imagined.
This is so relatable. Sometimes you’re not actually okay, but you still keep replying, laughing and carrying on like everything is normal. There are so many feelings we keep inside simply because we don’t know how to explain them. 🥺
