Things We All Do But Pretend We Don't
Be Honest, You Do This Too
There are certain things we all do, but somehow nobody wants to admit them.
Like opening the fridge when you're bored.
You already know what's inside.
You checked ten minutes ago.
Nothing has changed.
Still, you open it again like someone might have secretly added cake. 😭
Or checking your phone immediately after hearing a notification, even when you know perfectly well it wasn't yours.
Then there's pretending not to see someone in public because you don't have the energy to talk.
You see them.
They see you.
Suddenly your phone becomes the most interesting thing you've ever owned.
And don't even lie about rehearsing conversations.
Someone says something to you, you give them a normal answer, and then three hours later your brain comes up with the perfect response.
“Oh, I should've said THAT.”
Too late.
The conversation ended hours ago.
We also pretend we're going to sleep after “just one more video.”
One video becomes five.
Five becomes twenty.
And suddenly you're watching someone organise their entire kitchen at 2 a.m. wondering how you got there.
Then there's the classic “I'm not hungry.”
Someone orders food.
You weren't hungry five seconds ago.
Now you need exactly two bites of their food.
And somehow those two bites become half their fries. 😭
We all have that one outfit we keep wearing because technically nobody has seen us wear it recently.
And that one song we claim we're tired of but somehow never skip.
We also check our reflection in random windows, mirrors, car doors, shop glass… basically anything reflective.
Not because we're vain.
Just… quality control. 😭
And who hasn't searched for their phone while literally holding it?
Or looked everywhere for something only to realise it was in their hand?
Then there's scrolling through someone's profile and accidentally going way too far back.
You weren't supposed to be there.
Now you've seen a photo from 2019 and you have absolutely no idea how to recover from this.
We also say “I'll remember this” instead of writing it down.
We won't remember it.
We know we won't.
Yet we still trust our memory for absolutely no reason.
And finally, the biggest one:
“I'll start tomorrow.”
Tomorrow I'll study.
Tomorrow I'll clean.
Tomorrow I'll fix my sleep schedule.
Tomorrow I'll become organised.
Tomorrow I'll finally do that thing I've been postponing for three weeks.
Tomorrow has honestly been carrying our entire lives. 😭
The funny thing is, none of these things are particularly weird.
They're just little habits we all have and somehow pretend we're the only person doing.
Maybe that's why they're so funny.
We're all secretly doing the same ridiculous things while assuming everyone else has their life together.
So let's expose ourselves a little.
What's one completely normal thing you do that you would NEVER admit unless someone else admitted it first? 👀
When you see someone you know in public but don't have the energy to chat, you
Your vote is final.
Hahaha the fridge one 😭😭 I literally just did this 5 mins ago. And the fake phone trick, we all are guilty of that. So relatable.
