turn the page
Mia had a small notebook that she carried everywhere.
It was not expensive or beautiful. Its cover was slightly damaged, and some of its pages were folded at the corners. But forMia, it was more valuable than anything else she owned.
She had started writing in it when she was sixteen.
On the first page, she had written:“Things I want to do before I become an adult.”
There were simple things on the list.
Visit the mountains.
Learn to drive.
Make my parents proud.
Travel alone.
Write a story.
Become independent
At sixteen, those dreams seemed easy.
But life did not go exactly as she had imagined.
College became stressful. Friendships changed. Some people she trusted walkedaway. Her first job was difficult, and there were days when she came home feeling like she was not good enough.
Slowly, Mia stopped writing. The notebook stayed inside her drawer for almost two years.
One rainy evening, while cleaning her room, she found it again.
She opened the first page and smiledMost of the things on her list were still unfinished.
For a moment, she felt disappointed.
Then she turned the page.At the bottom, she had written one more sentence:
“If I don't achieve everything, I will still be proud that I tried.”
Mia stared at those words for a long time. She realized that she had been measuring her life only by the things she had not achieved.
She had forgotten everything she had survived.
She had completed college. She had learned toandle difficult situations. She had become more confident. She had supported her family when they needed her. She had survived days she once thought she couldn't.Maybe growing up was not about achieving every dream exactly when you planned.
Maybe it was about continuing to dream even after life changed your plans. That night, Mia took a pen and opened the last blank page.
She did not write a long list this time.
She simply wrote:“Start again.”
Then she added three new goals.
Be kind to myself.
Stop comparing my journey with others.Enjoy the life I already have.
She closed the notebook and placed it beside her bed.
The next morning, she woke up with a strange feeling of peace.Nothing around her had magically changed.
Her problems were still there.
Her future was still uncertain.
But Mia had changed the way she looked at them. And sometimes, that is where a new beginning starts—not when life becomes perfect, but when we decide to turn the page anyway.
Mia found her old notebook after two years and felt disappointed, but then she turned the page and realized she had been measuring her life only by what she had
