What happens in lab

I had completed my 12th. The admission procedure was a mess for the graduation because the administration had not thought of what to do with us. They had not decided whether give us more tests for pursuing the studies ahead or consider the tests already taken. The time after 12th felt like a chewing gum that had no taste but continued to stretch till infinity. While waiting for what to do next, I had opted for admission to a BSc course. But ever since starting the college my instincts were telling me that this college and course were not for me.
At first, I remembered the first lecture into the course. I sat in the classroom. The professor started the lecture. 10 minutes in and the professor announced that she had been feeling uneasy and she could not continue the lecture. She left the classroom abandoning the lecture. 15 minutes later, we saw an ambulance entering the college. Our professor had been ill enough to be taken to the hospital.
Then it was the time for the next lecture. We waited and later told that the professor for that subject is yet to be decided by the college administration, so even that lecture got cancelled.
I had a strong urge to return home, because I was not feeling accepted in the college. Deep down I kept feeling that I did not belong here. But I could not go because I had practicals that day.
Then we went to the chemistry laboratory for the practicals. Our professor explained us what we were going to do. He explained which results we should be expecting. I interrupted the professor to tell him that I suspected a gas leak. He dismissed saying that the laboratory had been serviced this morning, hence it was the residual smell.
Then for demonstrating the experiment, he lit the burner. As per my suspicious, there had been a gas leakage and the while gas line was caught in flames. We were asked to evacuate the laboratory. The fire was severe enough that fire brigade had been called. The fire was brought under control, but the practicals had been cancelled for that day.
It was the strangest first day of the college where I saw ambulance and fire brigade making their appearance. It was also an idle day when I learnt nothing in the college. My instincts grew stronger that I did not belong there. I jept waiting for the confirmation of my admission at the pharmacy college.
Next day was equally eventful. The professors had an emergency meeting with the college principal, leading to cancellation of lectures. We sat in the cafeteria because he had practicals. The cafeteria too was affected by previous day's fire, so they were not serving anything that day.
When we visited the chemistry laboratory, we were told that fire safety lapses had been identified and till the time they get fixed, all practicals had been suspended. Each incident was bringing me to the same conclusion: I belonged somewhere else.
That day when I returned home, I had received a communication that I had been accepted in the pharmacy college. I was glad to see that my dream was coming true. At the back of my mind I realised that my instincts had been always right.
After 2 bizzare days in the college, I was finally able to cancel my admission from there and began the process at pharmacy college.
When you feel a place isn't right for you, do you
Your vote is final.
Wow that is such a chaotic story. I cannot imagine what you would have thought after seeing an ambulance and fire brigade in the college on the same day which happens to be your first day in the college. I believe that instincts are always right. The universe too was giving you signs that you did not belong there. I am glad that you finally found the college where you belonged.
thank goodness you left. usually our instincts are right about colleges and not feeling like you belong. you either wait it out, like in my case, my first year was not a great experience but ive heard that second year onwards gets better so i decided to see what happens. now I'm happy in my college and I feel like it's my place. Best of luck to you!!
