When I realized some things are hard because they are unfamiliar

Anonymous1 hour agoWrite Freely102 words

Today, I almost decided that I was bad at something simply because my first attempt felt difficult. Then I remembered it was my first attempt

I had compared beginner discomfort with someone else's practiced ability. That realization changed my mood. Difficult did not necessarily mean inability. It might simply means unfamiliarity.

Online communities are full of people sharing beginner experiences and realizing they improved only after allowing themselves to be unexperienced. Their stories felt familiar.Today reminded me that competence has a beginning that often looks awkward. I want to give myself permission to be new at things without immediately judging my ability.

Being a beginner is not a sign of inability; it’s the first step toward improvement. We often forget that everyone we admire once struggled with something new. Give yourself the same patience you’d offer someone else. 🌱
