when life starts changing

We didn't notice it at first.

Our conversations slowly became shorter. The plans we used to make every weekend started happening once in a while.Sometimes one of us was busy with studies, another had work, and someone else was dealing with things they never talked about.

Nobody had a fight.

Nobody said, “Let's stop being friends.”

Life just became busy.

I remember looking at our old group photos one evening. We were sitting together, laughing about things that don't even seem funny anymore. Back then, we thought we would always be like that.

But growing up changes people.

Not always in a bad way.

We started wanting different things. One wanted to move to another city. Another wanted to focus completely on a career. Someone was preparing for exams, while someone else was simply trying to figure out what to do next.

For a while, I took it personally.

I wondered if I had done something wrong. Maybe I wasn't interesting anymore. Maybe they had found better friends. Then I realized I was changing too.

I didn't have the same free time anymore. My priorities were different. There were days when I chose studying over meeting friends, and days when I didn't feel like talking to anyone.

Maybe they were doing the same.

So I stopped trying to force everything back to the way it used to be.

We still talked. Not every day, not for hours, but whenever we did, it still felt familiar.

That's when I understood something.

Not every friendship has to remain exactly the same to remain real. Some people become a regular part of your everyday life. Others become people you may not speak to for weeks but still care about.

Growing up isn't always about holding on tightly.

Sometimes it's about giving people space to become who they are while allowing yourself to change too.

We didn't lose our friendship. We simply grew into different versions of ourselves.

And maybe that's okay.

A beautiful and very relatable reflection. Sometimes friendships don’t end—they simply change shape as life, priorities, and people evolve. The line “We didn’t lose our friendship. We simply grew into different versions of ourselves.” captures that feeling perfectly. ❤️

This feels very real because not every friendship ends with a fight or some big misunderstanding. Sometimes people just get busy, their priorities change, and slowly the conversations become less frequent without anyone actually deciding to walk away. I really liked the part where you realized that you were changing too—it’s easy to assume that people are moving on without us, when sometimes we’re all just growing in different directions. Some friendships may not stay the same, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t meaningful. 🤍
