Who's really intelligent?

Growing up, we all had ideas about what the future would be like. Would we have flying cars or technology that works with nature? Would we still need a job or could we keep doing our hobbies as a job?

The future is still uncertain. Especially during these times, when things keep changing. Our economy and tech have a direct effect on our environment. We have a choice to save either one of them as both cannot exist freely.

There are so many solutions that even I can come up with that will benefit us while still helping the environment. The problem is that people have already adapted and changing their ways again would cause unrest.

As a person in a creative field, my stance on Artificial Intelligence is pretty obvious. Apart from the environmental impacts, I can state a number of reasons why I think we're better off without it.

Just to be clear, this is not an attack on those with different views as mine. I only want to put my opinions out there and voice my concerns. We are all entitled to our own opinions.

Creativity should be reserved for us. Human art is what makes art art. Sure, AI is helpful as it aids us as a tool and I have used it for my research work, but generative AI termed as "art" is where I draw the line.

I believe everyone has creativity in them. We only need to take the steps to recognise and utilise our creativity. It's more than just art. Being able to conceptualise an idea and expressing it, expressing ourselves in different ways, the way we interact with others and our environment, all these are indicators of human's creativity.

Having a machine do all this for us takes away the humanity of it all. And that is what worries me. It's not the use of AI, but the consequences of it.

As a designer all these AI posters popping up everywhere makes my eyes hurt. There is no hierarchy or balance, too much contrast and information, and the alignment is always off. At least if a machine will generate it make it readable.

(Totally not implying to hire me for your design jobs 🙏🏻 I will send resume and i will do it for free if it means better readability and aesthetics)

A bad poster designed by a person adds charm. Anything human is charming.

We need to wake up to challenge the people in power. Change can only begin with us at the lower level. Like how my generation keeps saying, Lock in.

When faced with a future where AI can create art, should we

I think this is an interesting point. AI can definitely help us create and explore ideas, but there’s something different about art that comes directly from a person’s own experiences, emotions and imperfections. That human touch really does matter.
