Why Do We Have Different Personalities For Different Places?
The Many Versions Of Me
I sometimes wonder why I act like a completely different person depending on where I am At home, I can walk around in silence for hours and somehow still have an entire conversation with myself
Then I step outside and suddenly I remember how to behave like a normal human being 😭
Around family, I'm one person
Around friends, I'm another
Around strangers, I'm suddenly very quiet and careful about everything I say And then there's the version of me that appears when I'm completely comfortable
That version has absolutely no reputation to protect I'll laugh at something for way too long
Say something completely random
Make weird expressions
Forget what I was talking about halfway through a sentence And somehow become ten times louder than usual
It's funny because none of these versions are fake
They're all me
Maybe different people simply bring out different parts of us You might know someone as the quiet person because you've only ever met them in a classroom
Meanwhile, their friends probably know them as the loudest person in the room
Someone might think you're serious
Someone else might know that you laugh at the most ridiculous things
Someone might think you're shy Someone else might have enough embarrassing stories to prove otherwise 😭
And I think that's one of the strangest things about being a person Nobody really knows the complete version of you
Everyone gets a different chapter
A teacher sees one version
A shopkeeper sees another
A childhood friend remembers an older one
Your family knows things your classmates probably couldn't imagine
And then there are those people around whom you somehow become your most unfiltered self
You don't have to think about how you're sitting You don't have to plan your replies
You don't even notice when you're being weird because you're too comfortable to care
Maybe that's what comfort actually feels like Not constantly trying to present the best version of yourself
Just existing without checking how you look from someone else's perspective.
Har jagah hum thode alag hote hain, lekin iska matlab yeh nahi ke koi version jhoota hai
Maybe personality isn't one fixed thing.
Maybe we're all made up of hundreds of tiny habits, reactions and moods that appear in different situations
The serious version
The childish version
The awkward version
The confident version
The sleepy version
The one who suddenly becomes extremely talkative when someone mentions their favourite topic 😭
And perhaps that's why sometimes meeting someone from your past feels strange
They remember a version of you that you haven't been for years For a few minutes, you can almost see that old version of yourself again
Not because you've become that person again
Just because someone still remembers them Maybe we're not one person changing over time
Maybe we're a collection of versions, and every place, person and phase brings out a different one And honestly, I think that's kind of fascinating
Because somewhere out there, different people are probably carrying completely different ideas of who we are
And somehow, they're all righ.
When you meet someone new, do you
Your vote is final.
This is so relatable 😭❤️ We really are different versions of ourselves around different people, and none of them are fake. I especially loved the part about old friends remembering a version of us that we haven’t been for years. It’s strange and beautiful how every person carries a slightly different chapter of who we are.
