Why Is Leaving the House Such a Big Commitment?

Has anyone else noticed that making plans sounds much more exciting before the actual day arrives? 😭

When someone asks, β€œDo you want to go out tomorrow?” the answer is usually yes.

Of course!

Let's go somewhere. Let's eat something nice. Let's walk around, take pictures and have a good time.

You start imagining the entire day. Maybe you'll visit a cute place, try

something new or finally wear that outfit you've been saving.

And then tomorrow arrives.

Suddenly, leaving the house feels like an unpaid full-time job.

First, you have to get out of bed.

Already difficult.

Then you have to decide what to wear, which somehow becomes a decision involving your entire wardrobe.

You try one outfit.

No.

Another one.

Absolutely not.

The first one suddenly looks acceptable again, but now you've

changed your mind about the whole plan. 😭

Then comes getting ready.

You check the time and realise you should have started twenty minutes ago. Someone is asking, β€œAre you

ready yet?” while you're still deciding whether to wash your hair.

And somehow, the more excited you were about the plan yesterday, the less interested you feel in getting ready today.

The funniest part is that sometimes you genuinely want to go out.

You want to see your friends. You want to explore somewhere new. You want to make memories instead of spending another day doing the same things.

But the thought of actually getting ready feels exhausting.

It's not even the destination.

It's the entire process of becoming a person who is ready to leave the house.

And don't even get me started on plans that involve someone saying, β€œWe'll just go for a little while.”

A little while?

You know very well that you'll leave the house, get hungry, decide to go somewhere else, stop for something to eat and somehow return much later than expected.

Then there's the moment when you're finally ready.

Shoes on. Bag packed. Phone charged.

And suddenly you feel excited again.

The outside world looks interesting. You start thinking about what you'll eat and where you'll go. You wonder why you were making such a big deal out of it.

Until you come home.

Because nothing compares to taking off your shoes, changing into comfortable clothes and lying down after a long day outside.

And the first thought that enters your mind?

β€œThat was nice. We should do it again.”

Not tomorrow, obviously.

Maybe next week. 😭

Honestly, I think we all need a little push sometimes, but it's also okay to enjoy a quiet day at home without feeling guilty about it.

Okay so be honest: are you the person who cancels plans because getting ready feels exhausting, or the person who forces everyone else to go out once the plan is made? πŸ˜‚

When a fun plan is made, do you
