Bas maujood ho

I came across this line today and, honestly, I had to read it twice
“Tum kisi ke pasandida nahi ho, tum bas mayassar ho, maujood ho…”
At first, it sounds almost cruel.
Because who wants to believe that they’re only in someone’s life because they happen to be available? Not because they’re special, not because they’re chosen, but simply because they're there.
Lekin phir socha… kya hum kabhi kabhi khud bhi aisa karte hain?
Kisi ko message karna ho toh usi ek insaan ko yaad karna jo hamesha reply karega , kahin jaana ho toh usi ko bula lena jo kabhi mana nahi karta , dil ki baat kehni ho toh usi ke paas chale jaana jo hamesha sun lega , and slowly, without even realising it, we start confusing someone being available with someone being valued.
Maybe that’s the uncomfortable part.
There is a difference between "i want you here" and “You are here, so I’ll keep you around.”
Dono baatein sunne mein almost same lagti hain, but they don’t feel the same.
Kabhi kisi ne tumhe sirf isliye yaad kiya hai kyunki unke paas aur koi nahi tha? Ya kabhi tumne kisi ko tab yaad kiya jab tumhe kisi ki zaroorat thi, but when life got busy again, you somehow forgot about them?
I think most of us have been on both sides of this without admitting it
And maybe being someone’s favourite isn’t even about being chosen above everyone else.
Maybe it’s about being remembered even when there’s no reason to remember you.
No problem to solve.
No favour to ask.
No loneliness to fill.
Bas yunhi.
“Aaj tum yaad aaye, isliye message kar diya”
Isn't that a completely different feeling?
There's something strange about being needed but not necessarily known
Someone can know your number, your habits, your availability, the things you’re good at… and still not know you , and sometimes we accept this because being needed feels better than being forgotten
We tell ourselves , “At least they come to me”
But is being someone’s convenient person the same as being an important person?
I don’t know.
Maybe it depends on what you expect from people
Some people are perfectly happy with simple connections , they don’t need constant reassurance or to be anyone’s first choice , and that’s okay too. But if you secretly keep wondering why someone only remembers you when they need something, maybe that question itself is telling you something
Kya tum unki zindagi mein waqai zaroori ho, ya bas aasaan ho?
And perhaps the bigger question is:
Would you rather be someone’s “favourite” or someone’s “safe place”?
Because maybe the two aren’t always the same.
A favourite can change.
A safe place is something you return to.
And now I’m wondering about something else…
Have you ever realised that someone wasn’t choosing you-they were simply choosing what was convenient?
Or have you ever looked back and realised you were doing the same thing to someone else without meaning to?
Maybe mayassar hona isnt a bad thing , but I think everyone deserves to know whether they are being kept close because they are wanted , or simply because they are always available
So tell me honestly - would you want to know if you were someone’s first choice or would you rather never ask and just let the connection be what it is?
When someone only reaches out because they need something, do you
Your vote is final.

Such a relatable thought . Sometimes being available and being valued can look the same but the difference is felt deeply
