For a long time, I believed that asking for help was a sign of weakness. I thought that if I wanted to be independent, I should be able to handle everything on my own.
That belief changed one evening.I had been working on something important for several days, but I kept making the same mistakes. Instead of asking someone for guidance, Icontinued trying alone. I was afraid that people would think I was not capable enough.
After several unsuccessful attempts, I finally called a friend who had experience in that area. I explained my problem, expecting him to judge me. Instead, he simply listened and showed me where I was going wrong.Within a short time, I understood something that I had struggled with for days.
felt slightly embarrassed that I had waited so long to ask.My friend then said something that stayed with me: “You don't have to everything. You just have to be willing to learn.”That sentence changed the way I looked at asking for help.
realised that being independent does not mean refusing help from everyone. It means taking responsibility for your life while also being wise enough to recognise when someone else's experience can guide you.Since then, whenever I face a difficult situation, I first try to solve it myself. But if I genuinely cannot move forward, I no longer feel ashamed of asking for guidance.We all have different strengths and weaknesses. There will always be things we know and things we don't. Pretending to know everything only makes the journey harder.Sometimes, the person who can help us is just one conversation away.
There is no shame in needing help. Sometimes, having the courage to ask is the first step toward becoming better.
