Dar-e- Nijat

I've been watching Dar-e- Nijat and honestly, Zamil and Zaryab's story is the part that keeps making me think about how common this mentality is in real life.
Zamil and Zaryab were together. He knew her personality, he knew that she was open minded, and he still choose to be with her. But when it came to marriage , suddenly he wanted a different girl someone more "pious" according to his standards. And i genuinely don't understand this double standard.
If Zaryab's personality and the way she lived were such a big issue for him, then why did he get involved with her in the first place? Why make a girl emotionally attached to you when you already know that, eventually, you may judge her for the exact same things you accepted while being with her?
This is something I've noticed in real life too. Some boys have no problem being in a relationship with girls they consider modern or open minded, but when they start thinking about marriage, they suddenly want a "pious" wife. And somehow the girl from their past becomes the one who is judged, while the boy gets to walk away and start fresh.
Zamil had choices too. He could have been honest. He could have thought about marriage before making promises and building that attachment.
And honestly, wanting a pious wife is mot wrong. Everyone has the right to choose a partner according to their values. The problem begins when you except a certain standard from your future wife while refusing to hold yourself to the same standard.
That's why i find Zamil's character frustrating
It's not simply about whom he married. It's about how easily he seems to separate his own past from the standards he except from Zaryab
