Hear me out: We have the power to transform a chore into a powerful family ritual.

In my family we always try to find new ways to do chores, so that they become interesting and nobody feels burdened by them. Grocery shopping is an activity that we absolutely love and we always enjoy that we get the maximum positivity from this activity.

At least once in a week we go for grocery shopping. Before going to the shop we diligently make the list of things we need. We check the pantry, cabinets, and refrigerator before making the list. While doing this activity as well we make it a fun group activity. One person sits and writes down the items to be brought. One person does the work of thinking, guessing, and remembering what needs to be bought. One person makes round to the pantry, refrigerator, and cabinets to ensure that we are only buying what is essential.

When we go for grocery shopping we stick to the list. However if we find anything new or interesting we buy it too. After returning from the grocery shopping, one person ensures that everything has been shown to the other family members and informs them where the newly purchased items would be kept. One person arrange everything in the pantry. This way grocery shopping becomes a group task and the work gets divided.

Also while going for grocery shopping we go as a duo or a group. It again acts as the family bonding time for us. Unless urgent or impossible we do not send only one person to get the groceries. At least two people go for the groceries shopping. This is helpful so that if there is a confusion towards buying a certain product, there will be one person from whom the advice can be sought. Also if there is a lot to be brought from the market to people can equally distribute the bags that they would be carrying.

Surprisingly the grocery shopping has become a family ritual that has transformed over the years. We have made it a tradition but it is not a compulsion. We do not force anybody to go for the grocery shopping but because it is made into a fun activity everybody is always excited for it. Sometimes we take turns to go for the grocery shopping.

I believe this is something that everyone can implement in their lives. Not necessarily grocery shopping but we can choose any chore to be converted into a family ritual where everybody gets involved in doing small tasks. Converting into a family ritual will ensure the regularity of it. Also it is practical chore that becomes a fun ritual.

In the times where connecting and rebuilding the family connections are essential we can rely on the day to day activities. Just small changes into the day to day activity would definitely take the chores to the level where they become family rituals bonding each and every family member and keeping them close. For our family we had chosen grocery shopping to be such ritual, but in your case feel free to decide on and convert it into a family tradition or a family ritual. You will definitely see the results in terms of better of family connections.

Turning a chore into a family ritual can strengthen connections, so when choosing which chore to transform, you
