Last year I had to sell my old Redmi phone. Screen was a little cracked from the corner, battery was also weak. It would switch off at 20%. I went to Lakkar Bazaar, there are 4-5 mobile repair shops in one line. First shopkeeper checked it and said "1500 lagega iska." I said "bhaiya 1500 toh bahut kam hai." He said "screen toota hai, iska koi nahi lega." Second shop said 2000. Third shop said 1800. I was getting frustrated because I thought at least 4000 will come. One shop at the end, a little inside, the guy was eating chole bhature. He said "dikhao." He didn't even turn it on properly. He just saw the back and said "2500 de dunga, abhi cash." It was raining that day, light rain. I needed money that day because I had to pay for my friend's birthday cake contribution. So I said okay. He took my phone, removed my SIM, and gave me 2500 in cash - five 500 notes, all a bit wet from his hands because he had just washed them after eating. I counted it twice and put it in my pocket. Walking back, I felt that weird feeling, like I sold something personal. All my photos, chats were in it. I had deleted everything but still. I went and bought the cake from Baljee's. My friends were happy. But for one week, I kept checking my pocket for that old phone, like my hand would automatically go there.

This felt deeply personal. Phobes have become an essential commodity nowadays and selling it to contribute for making friend's day special is quiet emotional. For me too, phone feels too personal, moreover a lot of my work is from phone.
