Human Connection Shouldn’t Feel Like Mind Games

Maybe Clarity Isn’t Too Much To Ask

I think one of the most exhausting things about getting close to someone is not knowing where you actually stand with them not because every connection needs a label or a hundred explanations but because sometimes the simplest things suddenly become confusing.
A message gets left on seen, and you start wondering if you said something wrong.
Someone becomes distant, and instead of asking, you sit there trying to figure out why.
One day they talk to you like you're important, and the next day you feel like you're disturbing them just by existing.
And somehow, we're expected to call this “normal.”
Why?
Why has being straightforward started feeling embarrassing? Why do people sometimes make you guess what they could simply say?
“Mujhe baat nahi karni.”
“Mujhe thoda waqt chahiye.”
“Mujhe tumhari company achhi lagti hai.”
“I don't feel the same way anymore.”
None of these sentences are easy, maybe. But wouldn't they be kinder than leaving someone stuck in a hundred possibilities? I don't think human connection should feel like a test where you're constantly trying to figure out the correct answer you shouldn't have to analyse someone's typing speed.
Or notice that their replies have become shorter.
Or wonder why they suddenly stopped asking questions or keep checking whether they viewed your story but didn't reply.
At some point, you stop connecting with the person and start studying their behaviour and that's when it becomes exhausting.Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I still believe that if someone matters to you, clarity shouldn't feel like too much to ask.
Not constant reassurance.
Not endless explanations.
Just honesty.
Because rishton mein sukoon hona chahiye, suspense nahi.
And I'm not saying people owe us their attention all the time. They don't. Everyone gets busy. Everyone has bad days. Sometimes people genuinely don't know what they're feeling themselves but there's a difference between needing space and deliberately keeping someone confused There's a difference between being private and playing games there's a difference between taking your time and making someone constantly question their worth and maybe the saddest part is how quickly we start blaming ourselves when someone's behaviour changes.
“Shayad maine kuch zyada keh diya.”
“Shayad main annoying ho gayi.”
“Shayad mujhe message nahi karna chahiye tha.”
When sometimes, the answer has nothing to do with us.
Maybe people change.
Maybe feelings change.
Maybe priorities change.
And maybe that's okay.
But wouldn't it be better if we simply had the courage to say it? I wonder when we became so afraid of honest conversations that we'd rather disappear, give mixed signals, or act uninterested than just tell someone the truth and honestly, I don't want connections that make me feel like I'm constantly solving a puzzle I want the kind where I can ask, “Are we okay?” without feeling stupid for asking the kind where silence doesn't automatically mean something is wrong The kind where you don't have to pretend you don't care just to see if the other person cares maybe that's what real connection should feel like The kind where you don't have to pretend you don't care just to see if the other person cares.
Maybe that's what real connection should feel like.ot perfect.
Not always easy.
But clear enough that you don't lose yourself trying to understand it.
So I'm curious
Have you ever been in a connection where you felt like you had to decode the other person instead of simply talking to them? And what do you think is worse: someone being honest and hurting you for a moment, or keeping you confused for months?
Shouldn't human connection feel like a conversation, not a mind game?

When someone's behaviour changes, do you
