They say that old habits die hard. But have you ever wondered what happens to these habits after the death? Do these old habits leave this world after the end of life? Or old habits persist even after the death? This is a question that always made me think a lot. But I did find the answer to this question. Thankfully it was not my own experience but my friend Vidhi found out the answer to a question she never even had. Vidhi narrated a chilling encounter which made me scared.
My friend Vidhi was a marketing professional. She was working with a very well known organisation in their successful and prestigious narketing department.
As a marketing professional, Vidhi never had fixed working schedule or a fixed work location. She would require to travel a lot. Sometimes she would visit the upscale, lavish, and luxurious parts of the city. While sometimes her work would invite her to visit quiet, remote, unknown locations within a small rural village. Vidhi would experience the sophisticated and luxurious lifestyle, at the same time sometimes she would spend her days in the simplicity of the villages. Vidhi would like both experiences equally. Despite travelling intensively Vidhi never felt scared of any place - except one time when she had lived in a quiet small town.
A few years ago, a project required Vidhi to stay at a small town away from her home for a few months. This was an important project for her growth hence Vidhi decided to actively participate in it. Vidhi promptly moved to that town and had searched a place for her to live there.
Vidhi liked the quiet town. It was far away from the Hustle and bustle of metro cities. The town showed her how a peaceful life can give a stress free life. The complex where Vidhi had been staying was small but serene. Vidhi would not spend a lot of time at home. Most of her time would be spent at the office or the site. Vidhi would leave her home at 8 o'clock in the morning and would return home only after 9 o'clock in the evening. Vidhi had been getting little less alone time but she was still enjoying her work and the quiet life of this town.
One evening an urgent work came unannounced. This work was important enough that required Vidhi's attention and time. Due to the stringent timelines Vidhi was required to work out of her business hours. That day Vidhi returned home and continued to work on the deliverable till late night.
It was past midnight and Vidhi had been still working. The quiet town was fast asleep. The sounds that had been accompanying Vidhi were crickets, fan, and the clicks on her laptop. There was no other sound around.
It had been 2 o'clock at night but with she was still working. Suddenly she heard the knocks on the door. It looked like her neighbour had a visitor. But the knocks were is strange: three knocks - five second pause - two knocks - five second pause - five knocks. It failed more like rhythm.
Vidhi thought to herself who the visitor could have been. But Vidhi did not know that she was not ready to find out the answer to that question.
When you hear strange knocks on your door late at night, do you
Your vote is final.

What a way to build tension. It was all going well till the last line and the last line changed the course of the story. I am curious what will happen next.
