I had spent years believing that being busy meant I was doing well.
My mornings always started with a list. Wake up, check my phone, finish my work, study, reply to messages, complete the next task, and then think about tomorrow. Even when I had free time, I felt guilty for not using it.
One Saturday, I had planned another busy day. I woke up late and immediately felt irritated. I had already lost almost an hour. While brushing my teeth, I was thinking about everything I needed to finish. While having breakfast, I was checking messages. Even while walking outside, I was thinking about what I should do next.
Then, halfway through the road, my phone battery died.
At first, I was annoyed.I had no music, no messages, no notifications, and no way to check the time.
For the first few minutes, I kept reaching into my pocket out of habit.
Then I stopped. There was a small tea stall near the road. I had passed it hundreds of times but had never actually noticed it. An old man was sitting outside, reading a newspaper. Two children were sharing a packet of biscuits.A dog was sleeping under a chair.
Nothing special was happening.
But for some reason, I stayed there for a few minutes.
I bought a cup of tea and sat quietly. For the first time in a long time, I wasn't trying to get somewhere.
I started noticing little things I usually ignored. The sound of vehicles passing by. The smell of fresh tea. The sunlight falling through the trees. People walking without looking at their phones.
It made me realize how often I moved through my own life without actually being present in it. I always thought I was running toward something.
But I had never stopped to ask whether I was enjoying the journey.
That afternoon, I went home and didn't immediately start working.
I cleaned my room slowly. I talked to my mother without checking my phone. I ate lunch without watching anything.
Nothing terrible happened because I wasn't rushing.
In fact, I felt lighter.
I still had responsibilities. I still had goals. I still wanted to achieve many things.
But I finally understood that moving slowly sometimes doesn't mean falling behind.
Not every minute needs to be productive.
Not every plan needs to happen today.
And not everything that takes time is lateSince that day, I still make lists and set goals.
The difference is that I no longer feel guilty when I pause.
Because life isn't only about reaching the next destination.. Sometimes, you need to look around and realize that you are already living it.

You're rushing through your day, constantly checking your phone, when it suddenly dies
