Pride and Prejudice

Pripe and Prejudice by Jane Austen is an extremely renowned novel. It is not within cannon. It is the cannon of English Literature. It is the one book that is both a classic and a basic knowledge of the book and readership world.
There are so many dimensions that are explored in this book and by an author who remained anonymous for the initial part of the fame that is dedicated to it.
Austen had first intended the title to be First Impressions. Appropriate tk the central characters and even the secondary ones, who throughout worked and behaved on the basis of their first impressions. The title was later changed and I believe it is to narrow down the focus onto the central characters who act on their pride and consequent to this, hold their prejudice against each other and each other’s worlds.
Elizabeth Bennett, is a pro feminist even when the word has not been a popular concept, not even in nomenclature yet. Fitzwilliam Darcy, on the other hand is one of the standard aristocratic bachelor, a perfect project for a victorian mother to marry her daughter.
Long story short, Elizabeth and Darcy encounter each other in a ball and Darcy’s prejudiced comment on Elizabeth strikes at her pride too, giving rise to her prejudices which is furthered by wickham’s accounts of Darcy. Eventually, Darcy is revealed to be a man pf much deeper thoughts and admirer of merit within a woman. Their love story is tangled with their worlds, their egos and their absolute stubborn nature. Eventually as one reads the story and watches these threada detangle, the simple story of rejections, agony and yearning becomes a masterpiece, that is still talked about.
Other characters and their lives also pay contributions to different themes and stereotypes of the century.
The tale explores how rigid social class, financial security and strict gender expectations shape human relationships. The union of Darcy and Elizabeth at centre and Jane and Bingley at the periphery pays testimony to the maturity and transcendence of societal norms.
On the other hand, Charlotte’s tale represents the reality of marriages, it provides a benchmark to compare the other couples with, a marriage that is solely based on security. Wickham and Lydia’s marriage is another example of the bonds that were tied, of scandal. And yet theirs was the story that assisted the central story most.
All in all, I can read pride and prejudice simply because of how simple, natural and easily difficult it is.
