Me: Please don't enter the room without knocking the door!!
Mom: Am I a stranger in my own house, now I have to seek permission for entering the room??
..........
This is what we say, ' Neglecting boundaries '.
.........
"We were also young, we also had our own life, but we never disrespectfully treated any elder."
"When I was of your age, I use to work in field (land, farm) and still managed to score academically well!"
.........
This is what I though oftenly keep hearing.
You know sometimes, I just feel like leaving my home and get away somewhere completely alone, where no one knows me, my family, our name, etc..
Like basically somewhere, where people mind there own business or atleast they have some buisness to mind😏.
But unfortunately, in our country, I don't think it is possible?? Is it?? Tell me in the comments where, so that I can leave the next moment 😭..
Coming back to the topic.
Our parents where always told to respect elders, if he/she is old, they deserve respect, they have the right to disrespect you , they have right to interfere in your life, they have right to manipulate your mind into their type of decisions, they had right to tell you to adjust, they had right to force you in career cases and the WORST part is that all these things were been told to our parents in the name of Sanskaar!
You know sometimes, I just hate that word, especially being a girl, I just hate that word Sanskaar..
Seems harmless right?? Then you must born in mentally healthy environment..
😏.
Psychologically, what I am trying to write is less of not loving your parents but more of mental/emotional assurance..
Family grows stronger when respect becomes mutual!
The line has meaning only in our mind, if you show it to your parents, they'll either laught it out, or attack on you financially like we are the one paying your bills , we are the one paying your fees..
Like what the hell, you are supposed to do that aren't you?? Like I am literally your child!!!!!!
.......
Okay!!
So they want us to be financially independent? Yes!
So they want us to educate ourselves? Yes!
They also want us to not share our openion? Yes!
They also want us to earn more but not treat ourselves just a little?? Yes!
.......
Huh!!!
I know , I know everyone is frustrated...
The solution: Just detach yourself!
Detach does not mean become some baba and all..
It also do not mean that you should stop caring about them..
Detachment is something that comes when you are actually exhausted, like completely done with the situation.
And how to detach??
Stay tuned till next chapter!
Please do share your thoughts in comments...

this hits hard cause boundaries aren’t disrespect they’re form of mutual respect sanskar thing should never mean silently tolerating everything
Boundries is such an important part of a individual and people have to respect that and we have the whole rights to protect it and people are not ready to have this Convo ngl
I couldn't agree more. Age is not a default criteria for respect. Boundaries do not mean distance or isolation, they mean safety and protection. The generation before us think we insult them by setting boundaries. I know how difficult it is to explain.
