Be it any activity or venture - the role of family and friends always is crucial. Same is applicable in case of a new habit.
In 'Atomic habits', the author James Clear had dedicated an entire chapter towards the role of family and friends in developing a new habit or breaking an unwanted habit. When I read this particular chapter, it was very relatable to me. I rememberd several occasions where I had helped my friends for developing new habits or helping them to break the habits which they no longer wanted to continue. One example that was recent was when I had assisted my friend in her goal to lose weight. I had created a chart for her. I used to maintain that chart so that there will be no bias entries. Everyday I would ask her about what she had eaten and how much has she exercised. The responsibility was delegated to me by my friend so that I help her reach her goal.
I decided that I should use the opportunity to seek support from friends and family towards my blogging journey. I did this by sharing my blogs with them. Whether I liked the blog or not I still would share the blog with my friends and family. I would request them to read the blogs but never I forced them to do so. I would ensure to inform them that this is a passion project and any feedback from them would be welcomed.
This approach definitely helped me for writing regularly. Every week I would share the link of the blog with them. If for any week I had not shared the blog, then from the group at least one person would ask me about the blog. They would ask me that they had not received the link and if I had published a blog for that particular week. This question would definitely put me on the spot if I had not written for that week.
Secondly when I knew that I was going to share the blog with the people I knew it automatically meant that I was showcasing my skills in front of them. This motivated me to improve my writing skill. It made me work better on my blogs. It made me realise that I should deliver a high quality output if I am asking my friends and family to invest their time in reading my content. It was not a mandate yet it definitely gave me a quality target which I needed to achieve before I shared my content with others.
This approach definitely was a stepping stone in my blog writing journey. Every week I would feel more motivated to write the content that would be enjoyed by my friends and family. When my friends or family members would ask me more about the writing journey or the process of writing I would feel that my skills were getting noticed and I should continue to improve them. The feedback from them was helping me towards continuity as well as improvement.
Even today I continue to share my blogs with my friends family members and other people I know using my social media. I can say that my social media has gathered enough evidence to support me as a blogger and a writer.
This still wasn't the end of the journey and several milestones still remained.
When seeking support for a new venture, should you
