The Things We Once Prayed For ✨

Sometimes, we become so focused on what we still want that we completely forget to notice how much we already have. We keep waiting for the next achievement, the next opportunity, the next relationship, the next journey, or the next version of ourselves, believing that happiness will finally begin when we reach that particular point. But if we stopped for a moment and looked back, we might realize that so many things around us today were once nothing more than quiet wishes we carried in our hearts.
Think about the version of yourself from a few years ago. There were probably things you desperately wanted back then something as simple as having certain people in your life, being able to do something you couldn’t do before, reaching a particular stage in your studies or career, having more freedom, finding peace after a difficult period, or simply waking up one day and feeling okay again. At the time, those things may have seemed so far away. Yet somehow, life kept moving, and some of those wishes slowly became your reality.
The strange part is that we often stop noticing them once they become normal.
We get used to the people who stay. We get used to having a safe place to come back to. We get used to the little routines, the conversations, the opportunities, and even the freedom we once wished we had. Then our attention shifts toward everything that is still missing. We compare our lives with other people’s lives and convince ourselves that we are behind, forgetting that everyone is walking through a completely different chapter.
Maybe the life you are living right now isn’t perfect. Maybe there are still things you’re waiting for, things you’re working toward, and dreams that haven’t happened yet. That doesn’t mean you have failed. It simply means your story is still being written.
Sometimes, gratitude isn’t about pretending that everything is perfect. It’s about being able to say, “There are still things I want, but there are also things I once wanted that I have today.”
Maybe the peace you have now was once something you prayed for. Maybe the strength you carry today came from surviving something you once thought would destroy you. Maybe the people around you, the opportunities you have, or even the person you have become are all answers to prayers you made before you knew exactly what life would look like. And perhaps we should give ourselves more credit for how far we’ve come.
We don’t always recognize growth because it rarely happens dramatically. Sometimes growth looks like reacting differently than you used to. Sometimes it means choosing peace instead of proving a point, walking away from something that hurts you, forgiving yourself for old mistakes, or simply waking up and trying again after a difficult day.
So before wishing for the next thing, maybe pause for a moment.
Look around.
Look at your life not through the eyes of comparison, but through the eyes of the person you used to be.
You might be surprised to realize that you are already standing in places you once prayed to reach. 🤍✨
When you achieve something you once wished for, do you
Your vote is final.
