When Kabir reached Nandipur, the first thing he noticed was the silence. It wasn’t the peaceful kind.
There were houses, shops, a school, even a small temple beside the road. Yet nobody spoke. Children sat quietly on doorsteps, old men stared at the ground, and every window had thick curtains drawn across it.Kabir had come to Nandipur to document unusual villages for his travel blog.

At the tea stall, he asked the owner, “Why is everyone so quiet?”The old man looked at him.“Because people here don’t dream.”Kabir laughed.“Everyone dreams.”The old man’s smile disappeared.
“Not here.”That night, Kabir stayed at the village guesthouse. Before leaving, the owner gave him one strange instruction.“If you wake up during the night, don’t look into the mirror.”
Kabir thought it was superstition. At 2:47 a.m., he woke to the sound of someone humming outside his room.He sat up.The humming stopped. Then came three soft knocks.
Kabir walked toward the door.A child’s voice whispered from the other side.“Are you awake?”He didn’t answer. The voice whispered again.“Then you’re dreaming.”Kabir froze. He looked toward the mirror.
Something was standing behind him.He spun around.Nothing.When he looked back at the mirror, his reflection was smiling.Kabir wasn’t.He stumbled backward and covered the mirror with a bedsheet.
The next morning, he ran to the tea stall and demanded an explanation. The old man finally told him the story.Thirty years earlier, Nandipur had experienced a strange illness. One by one, villagers stopped dreaming.
At first, nobody worried. Then people began forgetting their dreams from the past. Then their memories.Names disappeared.Faces became unfamiliar.Eventually, some villagers couldn’t even remember their own childhoods.
The villagers discovered that every person who stopped dreaming had begun seeing the same thing in their sleep beforehand.A black door.
And behind it, someone calling their name.“So what happens if someone dreams now?” Kabir asked. The old man’s eyes filled with fear.“They don’t wake up the same.”Kabir decided to leave immediately.
But when he reached the village entrance, the road was gone.In its place stood a wall of trees. He turned around.Every villager was standing behind him.Watching.That night, Kabir locked himself inside the guesthouse.
At exactly 2:47 a.m., the humming returned. This time, it came from inside his room.Kabir slowly turned toward the mirror. The bedsheet had fallen. His reflection was standing there. But the reflection wasn’t copying him.
It raised one finger to its lips. Then it whispered:“Don’t wake them.”Kabir looked through the window.Every villager was asleep. And for the first time, their faces looked peaceful.
Then all their eyes opened at exactly the same moment. They looked directly at Kabir. His reflection smiled. And the village disappeared. The next morning, travellers found the road completely normal.
There was no village. No houses. No tea stall.Nothing.Only a weathered sign beside the road:NANDIPUR — 2 KMAnd beneath it, someone had scratched a single sentence:
“We don’t dream anymore. We dream through you.”

Kabir stayed in the village overnight and learned its secret. He will next

This story gave me the creeps. I am a heavy dreamer (literally). Not having dreams could be my worst nightmare. I cannot imagine someone who does not dream. This was legit scary 💀
