At 10:32 p.m., Ananya received a message from an unknown number.
“I’m outside. Are you coming?”
She stared at it. She did not have any plans to go out today.
Definitely not for her.
She typed, “Wrong number.”
Three dots appeared.
“Oh. Sorry.”
She smiled and put her phone down.
Two minutes later, a text comes..
“But since I’ve already embarrassed myself… can I ask you something?”
Ananya replied, “Depends.”
“What do you do when you know you’re making the wrong decision but your heart refuses to listen?”
She paused.
It was a strange question from a stranger coming from a wrong number.
“Usually make the wrong decision,” she typed. “Then complain about it later.”
The stranger replied with a laughing emoji.
They kept talking.
For the next hour, two complete strangers discussed terrible decisions, embarrassing crushes, family expectations and dreams they had never told anyone.
Finally, Ananya asked, “So who were you actually supposed to text?”
There was a quite long pause.
Then:
“My ex.”
Ananya laughed.
“Well, I'm glad you got the wrong number.”
The reply came instantly.
“Me too.”
Neither of them knew it then, but that accidental message would become the beginning of their favorite story.

A stranger texts you about making the wrong decision. You

it's lovely how random strangers feel closer to you than your family members, would love to experience this in real life.... loved reading this! 🙌🫂
