Things We Never Meant To Forget

I have this weird habit of taking screenshots of the most random things.
A funny message. A recipe I might make someday. A dress I probably won't buy. A random sentence from a book. A place I want to visit. A video I know I'll probably never watch again.
And then my gallery is just full of things I completely forgot about. 😭
But sometimes, while scrolling through those screenshots, I find something I saved months ago and suddenly remember exactly why I saved it.
Maybe I liked the way someone said something.
Maybe I wanted to remember an idea.
Maybe I saw a place and thought, “I want to go there someday.”
Or maybe it was just something that felt important for five minutes.
It's funny because we don't really take screenshots only to save information. Sometimes we're saving a moment.
We screenshot conversations because we want to remember what was said. We screenshot posts because something about them caught our attention. We save pictures of places because, for some reason, we want to imagine ourselves there.
And then there are those screenshots that make absolutely no sense when you find them later. 😭
You're just staring at your phone thinking, “Why did I save this?”
But I think that's what makes it interesting.
Our phones accidentally become little archives of our lives. Not the big events necessarily, but tiny things we found interesting for a few seconds.
I've even noticed that the things I save tell me something about what I was interested in at that particular time. Onemonth it's travel places, then recipes, then random quotes, then study-related stuff, then suddenly fifty pictures of cats. 😭
And maybe that's why I don't like deleting everything.
Not because I'll need those screenshots again, but because sometimes it's nice to look back and see what the older version of me found interesting.
It's almost like leaving tiny clues for your future self.
Do you also screenshot everything, or am I the only one with a completely unnecessary screenshot gallery? 😭
And if you opened your gallery right now, what would you find more of—memes, conversations, quotes, food, outfits, places, or completely random things?
Maybe our screenshots know us better than we realise.
And honestly, I think there is something kind of comforting about that. We may forget why we saved something, but the fact that we wanted to keep it in the first place means it mattered to us, even if only for a moment. And maybe that's enough reason to keep a few random screenshots around. 🤍
Your phone gallery is full of random screenshots from months ago. You find one that makes no sense and you don't know why you saved it. You should
